Well Within Therapy

Hello! My name is Katie, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Supervisor (LCSW-S) with over ten years’ experience supporting people navigating some of life’s most difficult and beautiful parts.

I primarily work with people navigating anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, relationships challenges, peri- and postpartum stages, and trauma. A large part of my work has been with individuals and families impacted by human trafficking (sex and/or labor) and other forms of exploitation and harm. While my approach is largely rooted in evidence-based treatments, every therapy is tailored to the person in front of me. I firmly believe every person and their experience is unique and deserves to be understood as such. I aim to understand the larger systems that shape who and where we are today.

In our work together, I will strive to provide a safe, affirming, and supportive environment for you to navigate, process, and explore your emotions and experiences. Through the therapeutic process, I hope you will strengthen the insights and skills inherent to you and develop others that support whatever change you seek. I hope you will feel better equipped to confront and manage life’s challenges, as well as wholly celebrate the wins!

About Me

In 2014, I graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX with a BS in Social Work. In 2015, I returned to Houston and graduated from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work with a MS in Social Work.

My first post-graduate experience in social work was as a case manager for an anti-human trafficking program within a refugee resettlement agency. I worked primarily in the community, home, school, and juvenile detention settings. To gain more clinical experience and in the hopes of effecting change in the arena of mental health, I began work with a hospital-based anti-trafficking program. There, I spent several years supporting individuals navigate the health care system, receive trauma-informed psychiatric care, and access supportive services. Since being in private practice, I have enjoyed collaborating with, and learning from, the people I serve. While trauma remains my therapeutic focus, I have experience treating relationship and familial challenges, depression, anxiety, women’s (and human) issues, adjustment difficulties, and more.

Outside of sessions, I am most likely spending time with family, friends, and my rescued boxer-pit, exploring coffee shops, or listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Maintenance Phase!
